An oldie but a goodie!

Shelby and Sasha's pandemic-era wedding got missed in a previous update, but there's no time like the present, especially for such a gorgeous wedding!

Snuck in the brief relaxing of a whole load of lockdown rules in 2021, this brave couple forged ahead with their dream day! Second shooting again for Michelle, I started in the couples' lovely Coal Harbour apartment to document Sasha and his rowdy and fun group of guys getting ready. Classic suiting with modern touches, and some special cultural touches to really personalise things- check out those amazing carved wooden cannikins representing Sasha's Serbian roots!

Arriving at Museum of Vancouver, we kept Shelby out of site until the first look, set under a beautiful willow in the adjacent Vanier Park as the wedding party spied on through the foliage. Sasha was gobsmacked, and rightly so– Shelby looked absolutely stunning in her intricately beaded cap-sleeve gown! As a lot of couple choose these days, having the first look pre-ceremony allowed us to get a good portion of the bridal portraits and all the bridal party photos done and dusted to allow the newlyweds a chance to really mingle for their post-ceremony cocktail hour.

The ceremony, tucked away in a private corner of the park adjacent the museum with views of downtown and the north shore mountains peeking through the trees, was short and sweet. After speeding through the family photos, they were onto the part they had most been looking forward to after a year and a half of lockdown: seeing their family and friends!

Michelle and I wandered up to the second-floor hall hosting the reception, floor-to-ceiling windows providing a spectacular view of the ocean, mountains, and skyscrapers of downtown– you really can't beat that, plus an epic sunset! The guest and newlyweds soon joined us for a reception that was heavy on the laughs and the toasts, the crowd clearly thrilled for the chance to be together and to celebrate these two cuties!

Our day ended on a perfect note, escaping outside to capture some final golden hour portraits in the last rays of this perfect summer day... just mind the goose poop!
